2015 trip summary...
(Updated Thursday, Sept 2, 2015)
Well, I've now completed my Around the World project by arriving in Saint Petersburg, Russia earlier this week. I had been in Saint Petersburg before, having arrived from the west in 2012.
So the plan now is to rest awhile with friends in Turi, Estonia, then make my way to London for a flight back to Vancouver with the bike on September 17th, then home a few days later. Then the work will begin of updating the website by adding the dispatches from this year's travels, as well as adding photos. But as even previous year's photos have not been added, I have a lot of work to do!
I'll continue trying to keep the map above as up-to-date as I can, but uploading the files requires a really good internet connection as the files are large. For more immediate updates, go to the bottom of the front page of the website and drop me a line. I'll be happy to add your name to the list of those who are receiving nightly Spot locations and periodic emails.
Like all the other maps here, the map above, it is fully zoomable and moveable. The layers pulldown in the upper right allows you to display several versions of the base map and toggles on the nightly stops as well. Nightly stops are marked with green tents for camps and with beds for hotels or other non-cabin roofs over my head. Clicking on an icon gives the location and day. The track file can be downloaded and viewed in GoogleEarth. Be sure to toggle it on (in the left-hand "Places" column of GoogleEarth) if it doesn't display right away.
